About Us
Bird Creek Yurts are peaceful, simple, natural structures. They are ideal as a studio, extra guest space, workshop space or anything you dream of really!
We build portable, camping style Yurts. They are closer to a traditional Mongolian style than the permit-able permanent yurts you may see around North America now. Our smaller yurts can collapse to fit on the roof of a van, can be set up in about 2 hours and taken down in 1.
Bird Creek Yurts is a family venture. We live in the forest outside Nelson, BC and do our best to grow and preserve lots of food, explore with our daughter, hike when we can and simplify our lives as much as possible!

who We are
Eric Adamson is the creator of our yurts. He designs the yurts, harvests the wood, does all the woodworking, and sews the covers. He discovered an obsession for yurts a few years ago and soon joined the tribe of other yurt lovers who lie awake at night designing and thinking of their next yurt plan.
Eric spent many of his formative years working on his grandparents ranch in the south Okanagan where he became generally handy with tools and adept at problem solving. A degree in Conservation Biology opened his eyes to how humans impact their ecosystems and several years working in provincial Parks gave him a deeper appreciation for wild spaces. Now he lives in a beautiful cedar forest and works to live a life that is low impact and rich with family time and living his passions. |
Lauren Andres helps brainstorm ideas for new yurt designs and mainly helps with behind the scenes tasks, like poster and website making. She does her best to listen to Eric's design ideas in the middle of the night. Lauren grew up in Penticton BC, spending a month of each summer camping with her folks. Her background is in nature interpretation with provincial and national parks in Alberta, where she lived and worked for 7 years after completing her degree in Cultural Anthropology and Biology. She is crafty with felting, sewing and knitting when time allows, but spends more of her time exploring birth support; Her main work is as a doula. |
